The Director of Development Operations will create and manage a centralized unit to handle all administrative and financial functions for the entire Development Department. They will provide the strategic direction and staff supervision to ensure effective and accurate day-to-day operations, including data base management, gift processing, acknowledgements, budgeting, check requests, and phone inquiries. This position also supports fundraising activities by handling large mail merges, solicitor updates/reports, Raiser s Edge queries/reports, Tableau reports, and invitation mailings.

What the Director of Development Operations does:
Functions as the lead staff person accountable for all administrative and financial functions related to Development. Builds the administrative infrastructure and provides the strategic direction and staff supervision to ensure effective and accurate day-to-day operations for the entire Development Department. Manages workflow, determining priorities, and providing project management to supporting staff.
Evaluates the administrative infrastructure for each revenue stream and recommends improvements and new procedures to support growth and ensure a seamless flow of timely, accurate donor information and revenue tracking. Drafts acknowledgement letters and other basic correspondence as needed.
Leads the Development Department in the understanding and use of current and emerging technology to enhance and improve fundraising efforts, and explores innovative and alternative technical solutions to automate fundraising and administrative tasks. Supervises the current software, systems, and services used by the Development Department, including Raiser s Edge and Tableau.
Accountable for quality control related to gift processing and acknowledgements by supervising timely and proper recording of gifts and pledges in compliance with laws, regulations, auditing, and reporting standards. Oversees Raiser s Edge management, budgeting, check requests, expense reports, and phone inquiries for the entire Development Department.
Streamlines all online giving platforms and creates an infrastructure which informs staff of donor activity on a timely basis to support stewardship. Acts as a key resource for Development team members by fulfilling requests for data, lists, and reports from Raiser s Edge. Prepares performance reports to be shared with Board members and other key stakeholders.
Creates key performance indicators and other markers to monitor and analyze fundraising results on an ongoing basis. Utilizes Tableau to produce reports and trains others in Development Department on its use.
Serves as liaison with Finance Department as needed.
Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of customer service, ADA and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA. Works effectively with volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 5 years of directly-related experience in overseeing the operations of a Development Department or similarly complex unit.
Strong organizational and team management skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and responsibilities.
Highly proficient in Raisers Edge Database.
Familiarity working with Tableau and Abila.

Preferred Qualifications:
Non-Profit industry experience.
Solution focused with the ability to work independently while also understanding how systems impact the fundraising cycle and stewardship.
