Description As a member of Santander's retail banking division you'll help serve Santander's retail and small business customers as part of one of the top banks in the United States based on deposits. With principal presence in the northeast U.S., Santander's retail division offers consumer and lending products to help our customers reach their financial goals. The Director, Portfolio Management & Oversight is responsible for the development, establishment and evaluation of risk policies and processes. The incumbent is responsible for managing Risk Management professionals through guidance and support to achieve departmental performance targets and objectives. Responsibilities Assists in the developing and mapping of key risk indicators (KRIs) that are mapped to various risks to determine elevations in risk; implements risk mitigation measures. Assists in the execution of the corporate compliance, fraud, and risk assessments by identifying key risks and assessing mitigating controls to determine the risk profile for the organization. Communicates direction from senior leadership to risk management team. Develops, establishes, and evaluates risk operating policies, processes, and standards. Enforces and ensures risk management policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports and employees. Guides and supportsRisk Management team to achieve departmental performance targets and objectives. Identifies emerging risks that present new regulatory fraud, or money laundering risks. Manages the publication, dissemination, and availability of compliance and financial policies and procedures. Provides guidance and coordination among all constituencies.,Provides guidance on risk procedures and policies. Recommends changes to risk policies, procedures, limits, concentrations, and regulations based on developing risk variables. Sets goals and articulates objectives for risk management team members in alignment with departmental objectives. Tracks the progress of remediation of control weaknesses identified by Internal Audit, self-testing, or controls assessment. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree; Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field. Master's Degree; Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field or equivalent work experience. 9-12 years of professional experience. Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to convey a sense of urgency and drive issues/projects to closure. Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates and management. Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with multiple levels of the organizational structure, including senior level management. Ability to effectively interact with the market, executive management and vendors. Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed. Ability to maintain and report on confidential information in an appropriate manner. Ability to multi-task and adapt/adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities. Advanced knowledge of risk management best practices and how to implement them. Commercial awareness. Demonstrated expertise in risk management segment, or ability to perform at an advanced level of competence. Demonstrated knowledge of risk management needs and designing new solutions based on detailed analysis. Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong leadership, supervisory, and customer service skills. Strong risk, process, and control validation and/or assessment skills.
